ex/ante’s mission is to advance human agency, writing the playbook for investing in the next generation of privacy, security, and information tools. With individual freedom at its core, we’re pioneering a new category called agentic tech. Read more about our thesis here.

The companies we invest in help to advance democratic values, individual rights, and accountability. We back tools that give individuals more control over data, assets, and information.
Democracy protection is national security.
Weapons alone won’t sustain a democracy crumbling from within. Democracy is threatened by polarization, disinformation, and lack of trust. Democratic resilience is a form of global competitiveness.
Tech is not a panacea.
Geopolitical challenges are fundamentally human problems with human solutions. We approach every challenge with skepticism about whether technology is the best answer, and seek to identify other solutions (e.g., policy, research) that can be activated alongside the startups we back.
We're in it together.
Agentic technology requires systems-level change. We actively collaborate with research institutions, think tanks, advocacy groups, policymakers, activists, and other stakeholders tackling these challenges.
